Container Yacht Transport: Safe, Economical, and Global Reach

When efficiency, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness are priorities, Container Transport offers a smart solution for moving smaller yachts, boats, and tenders worldwide. At Neptune Chartering Transport & Brokerage, we coordinate every stage of containerized yacht shipping — from custom cradles to port delivery — ensuring your vessel arrives in perfect condition, anywhere in the world.
What Is Container Yacht Transport?Container shipping involves placing yachts or boats inside standard or open-top shipping containers for secure ocean transit. Depending on the vessel’s size and design, it may be loaded in a 20’, 40’, or 45’ container, or on a flat rack or open-top container for oversized models. This method is ideal for:
  • Smaller boats, tenders, jet skis, and sailing yachts
  • High-frequency routes and global destinations
  • Owners looking for an affordable and reliable solution

How It Works
  1. Measurement & Planning:
  2.  Neptune’s experts carefully measure your yacht to select the right container type and plan for custom cradles or supports if necessary.
  3. Preparation & Cradle Setup:
  4.  Before loading, the yacht is secured on a tailored cradle to prevent movement and damage. Sensitive components such as masts or outboards are detached and packed separately when required.
  5. Loading & Securing:
  6.  The yacht is gently lifted or rolled into the container, positioned for balance, and secured with heavy-duty straps and blocks. For larger vessels, flat racks or open-top containers are used, offering both stability and flexibility.
  7. Ocean Transit:
  8.  Once sealed, your yacht travels as part of the global container network — benefiting from regular schedules, high security, and efficient customs handling.
  9. Arrival & Unloading:
  10.  At the destination port, the container is carefully opened and unloaded under Neptune’s supervision, ensuring the yacht is ready for final delivery or reassembly.

Why Choose Container Transport with Neptune Chartering
  • Worldwide coverage through major container shipping lines
  • Lower transport costs compared to other methods
  • High frequency of sailings for flexible scheduling
  • Secure, enclosed environment for maximum protection
  • Comprehensive logistics management — from cradle fabrication to customs clearance

With Neptune Chartering’s containerized transport service, your yacht enjoys a streamlined and secure journey across continents — delivered with the same precision and professionalism that define every Neptune operation.

Roll-On/Roll-Off (Ro/Ro) Yacht Transport: Efficient, Secure, and Cost-Effective

For yachts that are self-propelled or mounted on trailers or cradles with wheels, the Roll-On/Roll-Off (Ro/Ro) method offers one of the most efficient and budget-friendly transport options. At Neptune Chartering Transport & Brokerage, we partner with trusted carriers and port operators worldwide to ensure a seamless and secure Ro/Ro experience — from loading to delivery.
What Is Ro/Ro Transport?“Roll-On/Roll-Off” refers to a system where yachts or boats are rolled directly onto and off the cargo vessel, using specialized ramps built into the ship. Instead of lifting the yacht with cranes (as in Breakbulk transport), it’s driven or towed into the vessel’s enclosed decks, minimizing handling and reducing risk during loading. This method is ideal for:
  • Yachts that can be trailered or self-propelled
  • Standard-size vessels (usually up to 40–50 ft, depending on port facilities)
  • Owners seeking a faster, more economical shipping option

How It Works
  1. Preparation & Inspection:
  2.  Neptune’s logistics team verifies your yacht’s towing setup or trailer condition and ensures all safety measures are in place before loading.
  3. Roll-On Loading:
  4.  The yacht is rolled into the vessel’s Ro/Ro deck via a built-in ramp, then securely chocked, lashed, and locked in position to prevent any movement during transit.
  5. Protected Ocean Voyage:
  6.  Once aboard, your yacht travels inside the ship’s enclosed and weather-protected cargo decks, safeguarding it from the elements throughout the journey.
  7. Roll-Off & Delivery:
  8.  Upon arrival at the destination port, the yacht is carefully rolled off the vessel and handed over for local transport or launched as per your delivery plan.

Why Choose Ro/Ro with Neptune Chartering
  • Fast turnaround times at both loading and discharge ports
  • Reduced lifting risk and simplified handling
  • Cost-effective solution for smaller or medium-sized yachts
  • Global network of Ro/Ro carriers and reliable sailing schedules
  • Continuous communication and expert coordination from start to finish
With Neptune Chartering Transport & Brokerage, your Ro/Ro shipment is handled by professionals who understand the value and complexity of every yacht. Our goal: safe transport, efficient logistics, and complete peace of mind — port to port.

Breakbulk

When it comes to moving large or uniquely shaped yachts, Breakbulk shipping remains one of the most reliable and customizable transport solutions in the maritime industry. At Neptune Chartering Transport & Brokerage, we coordinate every detail of this method with precision and care — ensuring your yacht is handled safely from port to port.
What Is Breakbulk Transport?Breakbulk shipping refers to the process of transporting cargo — in this case, yachts — that are too large or too heavy to fit into standard shipping containers. Instead, each yacht is carefully lifted onto the vessel using specialized cranes and securely lashed to the deck or cargo hold for the voyage. This traditional method is ideal for:
  • Superyachts and custom vessels exceeding container or Ro/Ro limitations
  • Transoceanic routes where port infrastructure varies
  • Owners seeking full control over loading, stowage, and discharge processes

How It Works
  1. Survey & Planning:
  2.  Our logistics team assesses the yacht’s dimensions, weight, and structural points to develop a custom lifting and securing plan.
  3. Lifting & Loading:
  4.  Using heavy-duty cranes, your yacht is gently lifted from the dock and positioned onto the cargo vessel’s deck. Every movement is supervised by Neptune’s marine engineers and port captains.
  5. Securing the Yacht:
  6.  The vessel is professionally lashed, chocked, and welded (when applicable) to withstand long ocean passages — ensuring maximum stability and protection.
  7. Ocean Transit:
  8.  Your yacht sails aboard a trusted carrier with continuous monitoring and weather routing for safety and punctuality.
  9. Discharge at Destination:
  10.  Upon arrival, the yacht is unlashed, lifted, and safely placed in the water or onto transport cradles, ready for delivery or onward movement.

Why Choose Breakbulk with Neptune Chartering
  • Access to global carriers and major ports worldwide
  • Customized loading and securing plans for every yacht
  • Constant communication and on-site supervision during operations
  • Competitive rates and optimized schedules for each route
Whether you’re relocating a superyacht across the Atlantic or delivering a new build to its owner, Breakbulk transport with Neptune Chartering offers the perfect balance of flexibility, safety, and efficiency.

Flatrack

The flatrack method of yacht transport suits a wide variety of boat designs up to 45 ft. in length. This method is popular because of its simplicity, scheduling flexibility and relatively low cost.

In this boat transport method:

  • Your boat is loaded and secured onto a special transport platform called a flatrack
  • The flatrack is lifted to the transport ship
  • The flatrack is secured on deck between containers
  • Upon arrival at the destination, the boat is simply unloaded

Due to the popularity of flatrack transport, FTM provides this boat shipping service to all major ports and marine highways worldwide.

Float On/Float off

The Float On – Float Off yacht transport method, also known as the Semi-Submersible, is extremely versatile. There is virtually no limit to the size and shape of yacht that can be transported.

In this boat transport method:

  • Your boat sails normally until it is alongside our specialized transport ship vThe transport deck of the ship is submerged
  • Your boat floats above the submerged portion of the transport ship
  • Special cradle systems are placed by divers under water
  • Water is slowly released and the transport ship deck rises
  • Upon arrival at the destination, this procedure is reversed to discharge your boat

The semi-submersible ships that use the Float On – Float Off method of yacht shipping travel along specific routes:

FMT has strategic partnership with Rolldock group (operator of float on vessels) and can offer following schedules

U.S. East Coast

  • ·US Gulf / Houston / Bahamas
  • ·Port Everglades, Florida

The Mediterranean

Lift On/Lift Off

The Lift On – Lift Off yacht transport method is ideal for vessels ranging from 32 ft. to 150 ft. in length and up to 900 metric tons in weight.

In this boat transport method:

  • Your boat is driven up next to the transport ship
  • Heavy duty slings are placed under the hull of your boat by professional divers
  • The slings are attached to spreader bars
  • Cranes mounted on the ship lift your boat out of the water
  • The crane sets your boat onto a custom-built cradle on the transport ship
  • Your boat is secured to the cradle and the deck of the transport ship
  • Upon arrival at the destination, this procedure is reversed to discharge your boat

FMT employs heavy lift ships for Lift On – Lift Off projects. Custom-built cradles are used to ensure that your craft is always safe and secure
